Insanity becomes popular if its expressions present as memeplexes– groups of attractive ideas that work together to support some end. This does not say all religions are insanity, nor that all memeplexes are malevolent, as was thought after Richard Dawkins introduced that concept. Religion apologized and maintained in the face of contrary evidence cannot be considered the same as religion with no evidence at all, for that is, after all, what constitutes religion.
